The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Tuesday they’ll unveil new two new alternate uniforms on July 15, including a new alternate helmet, as we first reported in May.
“We’ve always considered ourselves to be leaders in the uniform space,” Chargers president of business operations A.G. Spanos said in a statement. “We take pride in the fact that the Chargers are widely considered to have the best uniform in the NFL; some even argue in all of sports.
“One of the main reasons for that is our continued push to evolve, authentically, with every opportunity. That’s what this is about.”
The Chargers introduced their current uniform set in 2020, including white helmets with powder blue home and white road jerseys with white or gold pants. They also revealed navy and royal blue Color Rush designs, which featured matching pants and decals for their white helmets.
Los Angeles scrapped the royal blue Color Rush uniforms last season, a move that ultimately paved the way for the franchise to add a second alternate jersey this year, which our sources have indicated will be a road version of the navy blue Color Rush design.

Both uniforms will be paired with a new navy blue alternate helmet, which the same sources indicate will feature the same gold lightning bolts that are on the sides of their jerseys and pants and would be a nod to their 1988-2006 helmets. It’s the same design that leaked last fall in a merchandise collaboration with a local skate club.
The Chargers are one of six teams set to reveal new alternate or throwback helmets this summer, joining the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders. Presumably, they’ll all follow suit by announcing a date for their respective unveilings in the coming weeks.
