Massive Update On 49-Year-Old Star’s AEW Contract

A popular AEW star’s contract is coming up for expiry later this star. The wrestling star had signed a long term deal with the company back in 2020.

Lance Archer first signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2020 after departing New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The company announced his arrival through a press release, with Tony Khan praising Archer’s explosive and unpredictable style. Prior to joining AEW, Archer had built momentum in NJPW, including a run as IWGP United States Champion before dropping the title to Jon Moxley at Wrestle Kingdom 14. After arriving in the company, Archer quickly made a name for himself with dominant performances and memorable rivalries. His hard-hitting style and intimidating presence helped him become a consistent force across multiple divisions.

Popular wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer spoke about the star’s future recently. On the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the veteran journalist commented that Archer’s current deal is scheduled to run out in July this year. He noted that this would put his future with the company in question. However, Meltzer did not share any news on whether the star has had discussions with Tony Khan about renewing his contract, putting his future with the company in question. The star is an in-ring veteran and could attract major offers if he becomes a free agent.

Lance Archer had a heated rivalry with the Death Riders in AEW

Lance Archer has been in a brutal, personal rivalry with the Death Riders this year. Archer recently aligned himself with the Don Callis Family, and the two factions have been sparring with each other for several months.

On the January 21 episode of Dynamite, the Death Riders faced off against the Don Callis family in a Trios Street Fight. Daniel Garcia, Jon Moxley, and Wheeler Yuta picked up the win over the Family. After the match, Archer sounded off a violent warning to the faction.

The two groups clashed again on the 25 February episode of Collision, where Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta defeated the Don Callis Family once again, consisting of Josh Alexander, Lance Archer, Rocky Romero, and Trent Beretta. This marked the AEW star’s last appearance for the Jacksonville-based promotion.
