Matheus Cunha sends 4-word message to Casemiro after latter stars in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Brentford

Manchester United attacker Matheus Cunha has publicly urged Casemiro to sign a contract extension at the Red Devils following a recent 2-1 win against Brentford.

Earlier on Monday (April 27), Casemiro produced a standout display in a defensive midfield role in the Red Devils’ home league triumph over Brentford. He scored the opening goal in the 11th minute before Benjamin Sesko doubled his team’s lead in the 43rd minute of the encounter.

Casemiro, who announced in January that he will depart at the end of his deal this June, completed 43 of his 51 passes apart from scoring against Brentford. He also won a staggering 15 of his 17 total duels and made 10 tackles and nine clearances at Old Trafford earlier this week.

Following Manchester United’s 17th Premier League triumph of the season, Cunha took to Instagram and suggested that Casemiro should stay at the club for another year. He wrote (h/t X/@FabrizioRomano):

“One more year, Casemiro…”

The former Real Madrid midfielder, who joined the Red Devils in 2022, has bagged nine goals in 33 games across competitions for his side this season. The 34-year-old has also provided two assists this campaign.

Overall, Casemiro has netted 26 times and laid out 14 assists in 158 appearances in all competitions for the Michael Carrick-coached outfit.

Gary Neville names Manchester United player who might not start next contest

Speaking on Sky Sports, Manchester United legend Gary Neville asserted Michael Carrick will not hand a start to Amad Diallo against Liverpool on May 3. He claimed (h/t Metro):

“If Cunha is fit, I think he will go with Cunha and (Bryan) Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes and Sesko. I think he’ll go with that four and I’m not sure Amad will play. But I think you’ll see a more cautious, tighter, more compact, more defensively focused Manchester United than you saw in that first half (against Brentford).”

Neville, an eight-time Premier League winner, concluded:

“I don’t think he’ll start with five at the back, I think that would be wrong. He won’t do that. But he will get them a lot more switched on defensively. He will be a lot more compact and tight and it will be a case of not making mistakes. Let’s go and make Liverpool nervous. I think Liverpool, likewise, will not want to be opened up. I think it could be more of a game of chess on Sunday.”

Manchester United are in third spot in the Premier League standings with 61 points from 34 games, while Liverpool are fourth with 58 points.
