Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has complained about the ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids against illegal aliens.

Speaking at her daily press conference on Thursday, Sheinbaum confirumed he had met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau to discuss bilateral relations.

She revealed that she had criticized U.S. immigration enforcement actions during their conversation, effectively siding iwth the left-wing protesters that have held protests in Los Angeles and other major cities.

“We talked about defending our migrant brothers and sisters,” Sheinbaum said.

“That we did not agree with the use of raids to detain people who work honestly in the United States, that this would harm not only the people, but also the United States economy itself.”

Her comennts came at the same time as the president of the Mexican Senate, a member of Sheinbaum’s left-wing Morena party, declared his intention to annex California and other U.S. territories.

“I was at Trump Tower when President-Elect Donald Trump was days away from taking the oath of office for the first time as President,” said Fernández Noroña.

“I said ‘yes, we’ll build the wall, yes, we’ll pay for it, but we’ll do it according to the map of Mexico from 1830.”

Sheinbaum, meanwhile, has never made any secret of her opposition to Trump’s immigration policy, which is affecting Mexican nationals more than any other nation.

However, her lack of support may be more directly the result of the economic benefits illegal immigration provides to the Mexican economy.

In 2023, at the height of Joe Biden’s border crisis, Mexican migrants living in the U.S. sent a staggering $63.3 billion back home in remittances, marking a 7.6 percent increase from the previous year.
