The Miami Dolphins will become the second team to debut their new Nike “Rivalries” uniforms and matching field design – joining the Arizona Cardinals – during their Monday Night Football matchup with the New York Jets, which kicks off at 7:15 p.m. ET on ESPN.
The dark navy blue uniforms, which are part of a new series that kicked off this season with members of the AFC East and NFC West, feature an orange “Miami” wordmark across the chest, aqua numbers with a reflective film outline – similar to the Los Angeles Rams’ numbers – and a fin-like stripe on the sleeve caps.
The matching helmets include a recolored and reflective version of the Dolphins’ primary logo, reflective stripes down the center, Miami’s area code (305) on the front bumper and a sunburst design on the back bumper, while the pants have a striping pattern that mimics the jersey.
This marks the first time in franchise history that the Dolphins will wear anything other than aqua, white or orange jerseys, though it’s worth noting Reebok – the NFL’s official outfitter before Nike – sold navy blue retail jerseys in the mid-2000s. They’ve also exclusively worn white helmets dating back to their inaugural season in 1966.
The “Rivalries” uniforms – which bring to mind MLB’s City Connect and the NBA’s City Edition programs – will be worn just once this season during a home game against a divisional opponent but will remain in the team’s rotation for three seasons, which would conceivably allow them to be worn against a different divisional opponent each year.
The “Rivalries” series will then expand to the AFC South and NFC North in 2026, AFC West and NFC East in 2027 and the AFC North and NFC South in 2028, marking the first league-wide uniform promotion since the Color Rush program debuted in 2015 and ran though the 2017 season.
Other matchups this season include the New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills on Oct. 5, Jets at Patriots on Nov. 13, Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 16, Dolphins at Jets on Dec. 7, Rams at Seahawks on Dec. 18 and Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers on a to-be-determined Week 18 date.
In addition to the uniforms, the Dolphins have painted the field at Hard Rock Stadium to match their “Rivalries” design, with their aforementioned helmet logo at midfield and dark navy blue end zones with their usual early season “Miami” wordmark in aqua with an orange stroke.
The Dolphins previously had navy blue end zones during their Wild Card win over the Indianapolis Colts in 2000, as well as their Week 17 win over the Buffalo Bills and Wild Card loss to the Baltimore Ravens during the 2001 season. It was a lighter shade of navy blue that matched their logo at that time, however.
The Jets, meanwhile, will counter with their standard green helmets, white jerseys, white pants and green socks. They are 0-4 in this combination since they introduced the design as their “New York Sack Exchange” throwback uniforms in 2023 and subsequently adopted it as their primary road design in 2024.
