Bam Adebayo drew criticism from Lakers fans on Monday after naming his favorite NBA backcourt duos. The Miami Heat star chose LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards over Los Angeles’ Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, a choice that frustrated the Lakers faithful.

Fullcourtpass highlighted Adebayo preferring the Timberwolves pair over Doncic and Reaves on X (formerly Twitter).

“Bam Adebayo says he’s taking Anthony Edwards & LaMelo Ball over Luka Doncic & Austin Reaves,” Fullcourtpass captioned the tweet.

The post’s caption also included Adebayo’s explanation for his pick.

“That’s tough cause you’ve seen Luka and Reaves play. I’ll say Ant and LaMelo. I feel like they’re gonna be exciting,” Adebayo said. “Everything off the court is gonna be hilarious. The off-the-court media training, hilarious.”

While the Miami center chose Ball and Ant as his preferred backcourt duo, Lakers fans were not pleased and slammed him in the comments.

“@Bam1of1 Miami was chanting MVP to Luka after he switch-hunted you every possession for 60 goofy,” a fan wrote.

“Luka finna expose ya front court watch. Finna have Giannis and bam looking like Rudy,” another remarked.

Lakers fans continued to put Adebayo on blast, highlighting how Doncic had dropped 60 points the last time they met.

“60 on ur head top @Bam1of1,” a fan expressed.

“I can give Bam Adebayo 60 reasons on why he should’ve picked Luka here,” another added.

Although Lakers fans took issue with Adebayo picking Minnesota’s new backcourt over Doncic and Reaves, the Heat center’s choice came down to the entertainment he expects from Ball and Edwards, particularly their off-court interactions.

Bam Adebayo names favorite teammate while shouting out former Miami Heat star

Bam Adebayo has spent his entire career with the Miami Heat and has become one of the team’s veterans. During an appearance on the Makeshift Project podcast, Adebayo reflected on his time in South Beach, highlighting his favorite teammates.

The center named former Heat legend Udonis Haslem as his best teammate on the Heat, but also offered an unexpected shoutout to former Miami star Jimmy Butler.

“You have to mention what Jimmy did in those final runs, like with a Kobe mentality. I don’t even think that’s Kobe mentality. I just think that was sheer will,” Bam said.

“Respect. But favorite teammate, I’m going to have to say Udonis. Udonis has to be my teammate. I mean, he’s one of the most legendary Miami Heat players of all time. That’s my guy and will punch you in your face for real.”
