Mojang just revealed the Minecraft Movie build challenge as part of the promotions for the upcoming sequel to the massively popular film. The developers shared the exciting community challenge during their showcase at Minecraft Live from TwitchCon Rotterdam, allowing gamers a chance to snag exciting prizes and other perks.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Minecraft Movie build challenge.
How to participate in the Minecraft Movie build challenge
If you want to participate in the Minecraft Movie build challenge, you will need to begin by downloading the build challenge map from Minecraft Marketplace. Once done, follow the instructions closely and build the structure within the 16x16x32 block space.
Players will get a series of pre-selected blocks and mobs that they can use in the build. For the challenge, participants will need to create a structure or house that would feel at home in one of the following biomes:
- plains
- taiga
- badlands
- frozen ocean
Once created, they will need to submit it through the gleam.io link. Participants can submit their builds anytime between May 30, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. PT and June 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT. After the submission period ends, there will be two internal judging phases, followed by a final voting phase between July 2 and July 5, 2026. The community will vote and decide the winner of the challenge.
For the submission, participants will need to record a video of their build and take a front-facing screenshot as well. The video should be between 15 and 30 seconds long and feature a 360-degree view of the build. For a comprehensive submission guide, those interested can refer to the official blog.
