Mystery Challenger For WWE Championship: 5 Major Names Who Could Challenge Kelani Jordan

WWE NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan won’t be able to bask in her victory over Wren Sinclair at Halloween Havoc for long. Before the night was over, general manager Robert Stone informed Lani she’d be facing a mystery opponent on this week’s special Wednesday presentation.

The show will move to Wednesday night due to coverage of the midterm elections in the United States. The news didn’t sit well with the former collegiate gymnast, but she accepted the challenge.

Booking an NXT Women’s Title match is just another way WWE is stacking the card to oppose All Elite Wrestling’s Blood & Guts edition of Dynamite. Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and John Cena are all appearing to bolster the lineup.

Since a few of the main roster’s top names will show up, a couple of big names from RAW or SmackDown could also appear. The next five stars could be Kelani Jordan’s mystery opponent on the special Wednesday edition of NXT.

#5. Tatum Paxley appeared at Halloween Havoc

Tatum Paxley joined WWE’s main roster shortly after SummerSlam 2026. She arrived as a reinforcement for Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss in their feuds against Jade Cargill and her minions, and Fatal Influence.

Her arrival led to a brief run as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Bliss. The duo lost the titles to Michin and B-Fab last week thanks to outside interference from Cargill.

Paxley joked that she could be the mystery opponent since Kelani Jordan was the last opponent she faced in NXT. Tatum is also a former NXT Women’s Champion who would be welcomed by the fans.

#4. Kendal Grey isn’t finished with Kelani Jordan

Jordan defeated Kendal Grey to win the NXT Women’s Title. Grey was overworking herself as champion. WWE used the excuse that she got hurt during her NXT Underground match against Lola Vice.

That injury, combined with her partnership with Wren Sinclair, makes Grey a likely choice as the mystery opponent. Kendal accompanied Wren to the ring for her title match at Halloween Havoc, but she didn’t interfere or stay by the ring for the match.

Since Jordan attacked Grey several times, the former collegiate wrestler could return the favor by being Jordan’s mystery opponent on Wednesday. She didn’t get a rematch and is clearly being earmarked for big things in NXT.

Kelani has already appeared on both RAW and SmackDown recently. She competed in a Money in the Bank qualifier. Having a shock return and potential title change back to Grey could be Jordan’s official sendoff to the main roster.

#3. Paige was the first NXT Women’s Champion

Paige could easily be Kelani Jordan’s mystery opponent this Wednesday. She was the first NXT Women’s Champion and returned to WWE at WrestleMania 42. The Anti-Diva is one of the most prominent names in the industry.

She’s worked for both WWE and AEW. It would be a fitting move from Triple H if he had Paige appear to counter-program a big episode of Dynamite like Blood & Guts.

Paige is a former AEW Women’s Champion as well. If someone doesn’t debut as Jordan’s mystery opponent, it could end up being a huge former champion like Paige.

#2. Bayley puts over another young WWE star

Bayley has returned to NXT a few times over her career. She’s one of the greatest success stories of the developmental brand.

The former Hugger is rumored to be one of the WWE stars who will fill Shawn Michaels’ role in NXT once he replaces Bruce Prichard next year. It makes a lot of sense. Bayley clearly cares about the future of the business.

She’s put over many women in her years of service to WWE. She lost to Sol Ruca last December and Lyra Valkyria over the summer. The California native is one of wrestling’s most selfless workers.

Her Lodestone camps help aspiring wrestlers learn some of the nuances of the business. Before she gets a big backstage role, it wouldn’t be a shock if Bayley challenges NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan on Wednesday.

#1. IYO SKY returns the favor in NXT

The WWE name that makes the most sense as Kelani Jordan’s mystery opponent for this Wednesday’s edition of NXT is IYO SKY. SKY is a former NXT Women’s Champion in her own right.

She may be feuding with the Judgment Day, but she doesn’t have her own storyline at the moment. Triple H has primarily used The Genius of the Sky as a secondary player in Rhea Ripley and Chelsea Green’s feuds in 2026.

Jordan interrupted SKY when she was speaking with Adam Pearce during RAW. It was likely a tease for a future match between the two.

While SKY should be a fixture in the championship scene on either RAW or SmackDown, having her work NXT for a week could help everyone out. It would be a fantastic showing between two of the most technically gifted women in WWE.
