NASDAQ index closes at a brand new file excessive and in addition makes a brand new intraday excessive as we speak

The NASDAQ index led the market higher today and this week, closing at yet another record high and extending to a new intraday high, surpassing the high price from July 31 at 21457.48. The high price today reached 21464.53.

The S&P also moved higher but closed just below its prior record high at 6389.77. The closing level today came in at 6389.45, just $0.32 from that record high.

A snapshot of the closing levels shows:

  • Dow Industrial Average rose 206.97 points or 0.47% at 44175.61.
  • S&P index rose 49.45 points or 0.78% at 6389.45.
  • NASDAQ index rose 207.32 points or 0.98% at 21450.02.
  • Russell 2000 rose 3.700 points or 0.17% at 2218.41.

For the trading week:

  • Dow industrial average rose 1.35%
  • S&P index rose 2.43%. It largest gain since June 23.
  • NASDAQ index rose 3.87%. It’s largest gain since June 23.

Apple shares this week were the star with a gain of 13.33%. Other large-cap stocks did well with the exception of Microsoft.

  • Amazon rose 3.7%.
  • Meta rose 2.57%
  • Microsoft fell -0.39%.
  • Nvidia rose 5.17%.
  • Alphabet rose 6.50%.
  • Tesla rose 8.93%
