Nasdaq system glitch impacts 1000’s of inventory trades and results in some being canceled

Nasdaq was hit by a system error Wednesday that impacted 1000’s of inventory orders, main some to be canceled, in line with folks with data of the matter. 

The trade operator informed market contributors it’s investigating an order-entry concern that precipitated inaccuracies and delays, the folks stated, asking to not be recognized discussing a non-public matter. Nasdaq’s digital communication channel, which processes so-called monetary info trade or “FIX” messages, was affected, the folks stated. 

The incident, beginning round 2:30 p.m. New York time, involving “certain FIX/RASH order entry ports,” Nasdaq stated in an emailed assertion that didn’t elaborate on the trigger. 

“We are working to reach a prompt resolution to deliver the correct execution reports,” it stated. The impacted entry ports will probably be closed for the remainder of the day. The “closing cross was completed and all other markets are operating normally,” it added.
