The Golden State Warriors want to keep Steph Curry in championship contention, but their current roster isn’t cutting it. To fix this, Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey pitched a three-team blockbuster trade designed to revamp the squad and give Curry a legitimate shot at ring number five.
The writer suggested a deal involving the Orlando Magic and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Warriors would acquire Magic star Paolo Banchero and center Goga Bitadze, together with Bucks guard AJ Green.

Bailey suggested the Warriors need to move on from star forward Jimmy Butler. The six-time All-Star will enter the 2026-27 NBA season in the final year of his two-year, $110.9 million contract. In the trade idea, Golden State will also ship rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2029 first-round and a 2033 first-round pick.

The Warriors have struggled to give Curry a decent running mate over the past few seasons. While Butler is a great star, he is 37 and is coming off a devastating injury.
Having a younger star like Banchero could be an ideal move to keep Steph Curry competitive.
The Warriors Are Predicted to Part Ways With Jimmy Butler, Ending His Tenure With Steph Curry
The Warriors are prioritizing keeping Steph Curry happy. To do that, they need to stay competitive next season and give Curry a shot at title contention.
However, their offseason moves have been underwhelming; they need an upgrade in the middle of the regular season. Heavy Sports’ Sean Deveney reports that the Warriors are looking at two distinct paths forward.
“The Warriors could get off to a surprising start with good showings from their young players and new guys, then get Butler back and slingshot into the playoffs in the second half of the year,” he wrote. “That’s the hope. Or they could sputter out of the gate, see their aging veterans suffer more injuries and sell off pieces at the deadline–and Butler is the big one.”
Butler’s severe knee injury derailed the Warriors’ plans to pair him with Steph Curry. Following last season’s setback, trading him might be their best option to overhaul the roster and stay competitive.
