New Masters of the Universe trailer reveals Nicholas Galitzine, Idris Elba, and Jared Leto totally embody traditional He-Man characters

The newly released trailer for Masters of the Universe gives the first full look at the epic return of He-Man to the big screen. Starring Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, the clip shows his journey from an ordinary life on Earth to embracing his destiny as the powerful hero He-Man.

The trailer shows his transformation, complete with the legendary Sword of Power and his battle-ready companion, Battle Cat. It also highlights the film’s major supporting cast. Idris Elba brings features to Duncan, also known as Man-At-Arms, the veteran warrior who guides Adam on his journey.

Jared Leto appears as Skeletor, sporting a hauntingly accurate skull-faced look as he rules over a shattered Eternia. The trailer teases an emotional story where Adam must return home after 20 years to lead a resistance against Skeletor’s forces.


Amazon releases new trailer of Masters of the Universe: Everything about the upcoming film

Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming live-action film Masters of the Universe is based on the iconic 1980s Mattel toy line and the animated series. It is a remake of the 1987 film of the same title, bringing the classic story back with a fresh cast, updated visuals, and a modern take.

The story follows a young man named Adam Glenn. In this version, Adam was separated from his home planet, Eternia, as a child and has lived a mundane life on Earth for decades.

His life changes completely when he finds the legendary Sword of Power, which leads him back to his birthplace. Upon returning, he learns that Eternia shattered and is ruled by the tyrannical Skeletor. To save his people and his family, Adam has to accept his destiny and transform into He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.

Masters of the Universe the film is directed by Travis Knight, known for his work on Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings. The film took a long time to come together, with development starting as early as 2007 when John Woo was once attached to direct. Over the years, the script was rewritten many times, with different writers working on shaping the story.

After the film was greenlit, the screenplay was provided by Chris Butler, with earlier drafts also credited to David Callaham and the duo Aaron and Adam Nee. The film is a massive collaboration produced by Robbie Brenner for Mattel Films, alongside Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch for Escape Artists.

Along with Galitzine and Leto, the film features Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, a mentor and warrior. Camila Mendes appears as Teela, a skilled fighter and Adam’s ally. Alison Brie plays Evil-Lyn, a powerful sorceress who supports Skeletor. Morena Baccarin appears as the Sorceress, while Kristen Wiig voices Roboto.


Masters of the Universe is set to release on June 5, 2026.
