NFL followers react as Aidan Hutchinson’s $180,000,000 contract extension with Lions

The Detroit Lions announced a blockbuster $180 million contract extension for Pro Bowl defensive end Aidan Hutchinson on Wednesday. It is the second-largest contract in Lions history, second only to quarterback Jared Goff’s $212 million deal over four years.

Hutchinson’s four-year deal has $141 million of it guaranteed, the most for a non-quarterback, making him the second-highest paid pass rusher with a $45 million salary, behind Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons’ $47 million.

NFL fans reacted to Hutchinson’s lucrative deal with the Lions.

“Absolute steal.”

The Lions selected the defensive end with the second pick in the 2022 NFL draft. He has been one of their defensive cornerstones but suffered a season-ending leg injury last year.

Aidan Hutchinson made his mark after recovering from last season’s gruesome injury

Aidan Hutchinson led the league with 7.5 sacks, adding 19 tackles, 17 quarterback hits, before he suffered a broken tibia and fibula. The 25-year-old was hit in the same spot during training camp, but Hutchinson dismissed any concerns over his availability.

“It was right smack dab where Alim hit me a few months ago,” Hutchinson said. “I got up and shook it out. When you can get leg-whipped, you start to have that confidence where, ‘I have a steel rod in my leg and that thing’s not going anywhere.’”

Hutchinson has made a full recovery and is tied for seventh in the league with six sacks, along with four forced fumbles this season.
