The New York Giants cleaned house in November by cutting ties with Brian Daboll. The coach lasted four seasons, going 20-40 before being let go. Mike Kafka took over on an interim basis and dropped his first five games before winning the final two.
The Giants brought in Raheem Morris on Wednesday for an interview that kicked off with dinner the previous night, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

“Not sure I understand why anyone would be in a rush to hire him after seeing him in Atlanta,” a fan commented.

“Rooney Rule getting handled early I love it,” a fan tweeted.
“I’m shocked he is getting so many interviews. He was horrible here in Atlanta,” another fan commented.
New York general manager Joe Schoen survived the purge and runs the coaching search despite presiding over three consecutive losing campaigns. Giants owners John Mara and Steve Tisch backed their GM publicly and tasked him with finding Daboll’s replacement.
Morris just wrapped up two seasons in Atlanta, where he posted a 16-18 record before he was dismissed. He also coached Tampa Bay earlier in his career and served as the Rams’ defensive coordinator before landing the Falcons gig in 2024.

Raheem Morris and Antonio Pierce interviews check mandatory boxes for New York

Raheem Morris’ interview, combined with Antonio Pierce’s scheduled meeting, means the Giants complete their league-mandated requirements. Pierce’s sit-down started on Wednesday and wraps up on Thursday.
NFL rules force franchises to hold face-to-face interviews with two external minority candidates before making a hire. Virtual meetings don’t count. Once both conversations finish, Joe Schoen can pick whoever he wants.
New York already talked with Mike Kafka during his interim stretch. The list of requested interviews include John Harbaugh, Mike McCarthy, Vance Joseph, Lou Anarumo and Klint Kubiak, among others.
