NFL followers react as Ravens request interview with Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak for HC function

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has become one of the top candidates for the Baltimore Ravens head coaching vacancy. The Ravens parted ways with long-term coach John Harbaugh on Tuesday, taking the franchise to a whole new era in the 2026 season.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Ravens have requested an interview with Kubiak for their head coaching job. They become the fifth team in the last few days to have made an interview request for the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator, joining the New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals.

The Seahawks coach, Mike Macdonald, confirmed in his media availability on Tuesday that the team has received interview requests for Klint Kubiak. He expressed his honest feelings on the possibility of seeing the offensive coordinator depart the team following a great season.

“I think part of our vision of what we want to create here is a team where coaches want to work and they can feel like they’re getting developed too, and they’re getting opportunities,” Macdonald said. And so if we’re doing what we’re supposed to on the field, those opportunities are going to come. And it’s great that some of those are happening.”

There’s been a lot of reaction to the Ravens’ interview request for Klint Kubiak. He’s now one of the two names, alongside Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, that the franchise is currently considering to replace John Harbaugh. Here’s a look at some of the reactions online:

Mike Macdonald expresses support for Klint Kubiak and others amid new opportunities

While it means the loss of a great coaching staff, Mike Macdonald has expressed his strong support for his assistants, including Klint Kubiak, getting head coaching opportunities. Macdonald himself is in his first head coaching role after years as a defensive assistant.

“We’re cheering those guys on,” MacDonald said. “It’s a little bittersweet to a certain degree that you might lose a great person and a great coach from your team, but not enough to kind of stymie their progress.

“We’re definitely rooting for those people and encouraging them to look at if it’s a great opportunity for them. On the other hand, if someone doesn’t really want to be here, if they want to pursue an opportunity and they don’t want to be here, then we’ll let them go as well. We want guys that want to be here, but we’ve got a great staff.”

Klint Kubiak is not the only Seahawks assistant currently linked to a head coaching role. Defensive coordinator Aden Durde is also a potential head coach next season after the Cleveland Browns made an interview request. Both coaches have been allowed to take interviews in the Seahawks’ first-round bye.
