NFL followers troll Johnny Manziel as ex-Browns QB fails to point out up as College GameDay visitor picker

Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was surprisingly replaced as the “College GameDay” guest picker on ESPN on Saturday for Texas A&M’s first-round College Football Playoff game against Miami. Since Manziel was a no-show, Alex Caruso, a two-time NBA champion who played basketball at Texas A&M, stepped in as the guest picker.

College GameDay said last night that Johnny Manziel would be today’s celebrity guest picker but now the graphic say it’s Alex Caruso. I wonder what happened there.

When fans on social media found out that Manziel had been to the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua boxing bout at Kaseya Center in Miami the night before he missed his “GameDay” appearance, they had a range of reactions.

“Probably too hungover or arrested,” one tweeted.

“Manziel 100% got wasted in Miami and missed his flight,” another added.

“He got drunk,” a third commented.

Here are a few more reactions.

“Must be working on his quest to join the PGA TOUR,” one wrote.

“He’s not waking up for an 11:00 am game,” another added.

“Friday night in College Station happened,” a user tweeted.

ESPN did not disclose any reason for Manziel’s strange absence on the show, which was being broadcast live from Kyle Field to preview the Texas A&M-Miami game.

Manziel had posted several ringside photos from Joshua’s win over Paul on his Instagram story on Friday night. However, he did not share any statement or information on social media about not showing up on “GameDay.”

Johnny Manziel spent three years at Texas A&M from 2011 to 2013. He won the Heisman Trophy with the Aggies in 2012.

Manziel was drafted by the Browns in the first round in 2014. He spent two years with them, but never acclimated to the NFL. The QB also dealt with personal issues, including drug use and mental health issues.

Manziel also played in the CFL and the AAF.
