NHRA star Leah Pruett expands past racing, unveils youngsters’s guide

NHRA drag racer Leah Pruett has stepped into the world of children’s books. The 37-year-old shared the news on X, announcing a Christmas pre-sale to go with it.

Pruett’s NHRA career took a backseat after her pregnancy with Tony Stewart. The Cup Series champion filled in for Pruett and earned Rookie of the Year honours in 2024. This year, he claimed his first Top Fuel win in the four-wide Nationals at Las Vegas.

Pruett, meanwhile, returned to the cockpit during a private test in June. She drove Stewart’s dragster at Virginia Motorsports Park and is set to retain the ride in 2026.

Ahead of her highly anticipated return, the Californian took to X and shared a sneak peek of her latest work.

“📚 My new children’s book, “Winning Attitudes,” is officially on Christmas pre-sale!🎄”

Leah Pruett’s book is slated for a March, 2026 release. She recently shed light on Tony Stewart’s $2.25 million contribution to a children’s hospital in Charlotte. The donation helped fund a new pediatric Intermediate Care Unit(IMCU), a division meant for more attention than a general ward.

Tony Stewart outlines sponsor troubles while dating Leah Pruett

Tony Stewart is set to compete against his own team in 2026. Since Leah Pruett returns to Tony Stewart Racing, the 54-year-old has signed with Elite Motorsports. This isn’t the first occurence of their careers clashing with their personal life.

In an interview with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Stewart addressed the conflicting interests when he began dating Pruett.

“She’s sponsored by Dodge; I’m sponsored by Ford. So, no joke. I called my PR guy and said, ‘Hey, this is what’s going on’ because nobody knew we were doing anything together. Like, there were two or three people that knew who I was with and where I was at,” he said.

“I remember on the way home from Swing Arm (City) with Ken (Block),” he added, “I’m driving the motorhome, she’s on the right side of the motorhome and I’m on the phone with Mobil 1, she’s on the phone with Pennzoil and we hang up from that call and I’m calling Ford and she’s calling Dodge at the same time and we’re three feet from each other having these conversations.”

The two drivers ended up finding a neat work-around. While Stewart refrained from wearing Ford-branded clothes at Leah Pruett’s events, she did the same for her husband.

The pair got engaged in 2021, and married later that year. They initially met during the covid lockdown through fellow racer, Don Prudhomme. The couple now share a one-year old son, Dominic James.

Stewart and Pruett recently shared the spotlight at the NHRA awards banquet, where he was honoured for finishing second in the 2025 season.
