After getting rid of red in a rebrand four years ago, the National Lacrosse League’s Calgary Roughnecks are ready to put some colour back into their lives.
On Sunday, April 20, the Roughnecks announced on their social media channels that they would have new jerseys for the 2025-26 NLL season, which would re-introduce red as an accent colour. Fans also got a sneak peek at the jerseys when the Roughnecks hosted the Colorado Mammoth at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday, April 19.
The new home jersey will be mainly black, with a red stripes across the chest and around the waist. Panels on the undersides of the sleeves are red with a black oil rig pattern.
The new away jersey, meanwhile, in mostly white with black stripes on the chest and waist and the same red-and-black oil rig pattern as the home jersey. On the chest is a new version of the team’s secondary logo, with a red R next to an oil rig. The team has had this logo since its inception in 2000, but the R always either had a chrome effect or was solid grey. The primary logo moves to the shoulders.

The primary logo colouring, however, will not change from the version introduced in 2021. This retooling changed the roughneck’s shirt and gloves from red to grey and removed the mountain in the background.

On the backs of the new jerseys, the Roughnecks will retain their block number font with rivets in the corners, but the outermost outline will become red. They will also use the same block font for the nameplates.

Before they switch to the new jerseys next season, though, the Roughnecks still have some business to take care of in the 2024-25 season. They’ll visit the Halifax Thunderbirds in a playoff quarterfinal matchup on Friday, April 26, that will be broadcast on TSN, TSN+ and ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET.
