Fans of the Ontario Hockey League’s Kingston Frontenacs will have to wait a little longer to see their team in throwback duds.
The Frontenacs issued a statement on Thursday, October 9, saying that the debut of their new “Count Frontenac” third jerseys — which was slated for Friday, October 17 — would be delayed due to “unexpected manufacturing issues currently being resolved by the Canadian Hockey League’s suppliers.”
While the hockey club is disappointed by this setback, the Frontenacs are working closely with all relevant parties to resolve the matter as quickly as possible. The team remains eager to showcase the new Count Frontenac Third Jersey and anticipates wearing it in game action in the near future. Once an updated delivery timeline is confirmed, the Frontenacs’ business operations team will finalize and announce the new debut date and alternate jersey schedule.

The team also noted that these production issues have affected their regular uniforms, and they’ve been limited to wearing only their white sweaters so far in 2025-26.

Under Armour took over as the official jersey supplier for the Canadian Hockey League in May 2025. But in September, quality control issues came to light with the metallic fabric Under Armour was using for the Frontenacs and at least three other CHL teams. Kingston wore black CCM practice jerseys throughout the OHL preseason.

The Frontenacs announced the return of the Count logo back in August. They used it as their primary logo from 2001 to 2009, but the version teased for 2025-26 was recoloured, with the coat and collar going from grey to white, the highlights in the hat turning white, and the Count’s face itself going from yellow to more of a Vegas gold. It also appears without the Frontenacs wordmark underneath.

No actual jersey design was included in the video from August, but the Frontenacs said on their website that the jerseys would be “inspired by the primary uniforms worn by the Frontenacs from 2001 until 2009.”

After the October 17 game, the next time the Frontenacs had planned to wear their new third jerseys was on Sunday, November 16, against the Sarnia Sting.
