OHL’s Windsor Spitfires Celebrate Season With Ugly Sweaters – SportsLogos.Net News

The Ontario Hockey League’s Windsor Spitfires got in the Christmas spirit this week with ugly sweater jerseys inspired by a classic holiday movie.

The Spitfires had the hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny Kaye on Thursday, December 18, when they hosted their Old Fashioned Family Spitsmas Night against the Soo Greyhounds. And they marked the occasion with specialty jerseys inspired by National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

The jerseys had a navy blue base and were covered with a knit pattern in white, light blue and red. The Spitfires’ primary logo appears on the front of the jersey, along with an RV, a station wagon with a Christmas tree tied to the roof, and the phrase “OLD FASHIONED FAMILY SPITSMAS.” A moose-shaped eggnog glass appeared on the right shoulder, while the face of Cousin Eddie’s dog Snots appeared on the left.

The knit pattern continued on the sleeves and the bottom of the back of the jersey, but most of the back of the jersey was a solid blue panel onto which single-colour white names and numbers were printed. Sleeve numbers were also single-colour white, while the collar were solid red.

The knit pattern also continued on the Spitfires’ socks. They wore their usual navy blue pants, gloves and helmets with the Christmas jerseys.

The jerseys delivered Christmas early for the Spitfires as they defeated the Greyhounds 6-2. Goaltender Joey Costanzo set a franchise record in that game with his 87th win for Windsor.
