“Once a snake always a snake” – Chelsea followers slam Mason Mount for his gesture at Blues followers in Manchester United’s win at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea fans have voiced their anger on social media after former Blues midfielder Mason Mount shushed them at the end of Manchester United’s latest 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Earlier on Saturday (April 18), Chelsea crashed to their fourth straight defeat in the Premier League, despite boasting more possession and shots against Manchester United. Matheus Cunha scored the decisive goal in the 43rd minute, guiding Bruno Fernandes’ ground cross home.

Meanwhile, Mount entered the fray amid loud boos from the Blues fans in the 81st minute. The Blues academy graduate, who replaced Cunha, returned the favour to the home supporters by shushing them after his side’s crucial away win against the Liam Rosenior-coached team.

One Blues fan hinted that Mount betrayed his boyhood outfit by joining Manchester United in a potential £60 million deal in the summer of 2023. He wrote on X:

“Once a snake always a snake. One of the most disgusting players to ever wear a Chelsea shirt, and the fact he still has old idiots that ride or die for him is beyond pathetic.”

Other Blues supporters also reacted to Mount’s gesture:

Mount, who completed nine of his nine passes earlier this Saturday, has endured a stop-start 2025-26 campaign owing to multiple knocks. The 27-year-old has netted three times and laid out one assist in 21 games across all competitions for the Old Trafford outfit so far this term.

Overall, the 2021 UEFA Champions League winner has produced just seven goals and two assists in 68 total appearances for the Red Devils.

Ex-Premier League star slams Chelsea forward after loss to Manchester United

Former England and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson has lambasted Alejandro Garnacho following the Argentine’s below-par display against his former club. He said on Stadium Astro (h/t Metro):

“He’s not good enough to be a regular starter for Chelsea and Manchester United may have done some good business. He was supposed to be a game changer off the bench, obviously not that early on in the game, but for me, he runs down dead ends too many times. He gets the ball and immediately his head’s down and he’s gone. He’s very, very one-dimensional in the way that he attacks.”

Garnacho, who left the Red Devils for £40 million last summer, completed 31 of his 38 passes and three of his six dribbles on Saturday. The 21-year-old came on as a substitute after Estevao Willian’s injury in the 12th minute.
