‘The General’ was last in action at ONE SAMURAI 1 on April 29 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, successfully defending the bantamweight kickboxing world title against Japanese star Yuki Yoza by unanimous decision.

In a recent Instagram post, the English champion shared a carousel of photos of him in training as he gets ready for his next match, whenever that will be. He also engaged fans for their thoughts on who he should face next.

Jonathan Haggerty open to begin MMA journey this year

Apart from kickboxing and Muay Thai, fans could see Jonathan Haggerty competing in mixed martial arts as well this year. It is something he has long been looking at doing, part of his push to continue to test himself as a martial artist.

He brought the idea up once again ahead of his last match, teasing that 2026 could be the year he makes the jump to MMA.

Haggerty said:

“MMA this year is definitely on the cards. Of course, only if ONE Championship decides they want to give me the opportunity. I’ll be grateful for that. I’d love to try my hand at MMA.”

If Jonathan Haggerty pushes through with his plan to fight in MMA, he joins Thai superstar Stamp Fairtex among the fighters competing in three sports in ONE Championship.
