Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain’s fallout, which started at Las Vegas, had spilled into race weekends and media sessions. Suarez has compared Chastain to an upset “girlfriend” and said that he might write a book one day to reveal everything.
Tensions boiled over between the former Trackhouse Racing teammates in Vegas. On the cooldown lap, their contact led to a heated exchange on pit road. Suarez walked up to Chastain, and the conversation turned physical with a couple of shoves. The two later spoke to the media and confirmed that the relationship had broken down. Chastain admitted that the situation got out of hand and said he regretted parts of the exchange.
Thanks for the submission!
Suarez revealed that the issue ran deeper than a single incident and addressed the situation again during the Darlington weekend.
“It’s kind of like when you make your girlfriend mad. Honestly, tell me if I’m wrong, but I’m trying to think back, and I never had any issues with any of my teammates,” Suarez said, via Fox Sports.
“The thing is that last year was very, very difficult. You guys only know 20 percent of the stuff that actually happened. And maybe one day I will write a book and you guys will find out everything that exactly how things happen. But last year was very, very difficult, definitely one of the most difficult years I have had in my career the way that things the way that things played out.”
Suarez joined Trackhouse in 2021 as its first full-time driver, and Chastain joined the following year. The Mexican driver’s results began to slip in 2025. He struggled for speed and consistency and fell behind his teammates in the standings.
Meanwhile, Suarez had his career-best finish at Darlington last Sunday.
“The culture of the team is pretty incredible” – Daniel Suarez is a ‘very happy man’ with Spire Motorports after career-best finish at Darlington
Daniel Suarez, who has one top-5 finish so far this season, praised his new team, Spire Motorsports, after his seventh-place finish at Darlington Raceway this past weekend.
“The culture of the team is pretty incredible. … I’m just [a] very happy man, very happy to be with this level of organization,” Daniel Suarez told John Newby after the race.
Daniel Suarez also called Spire the fastest-growing team in NASCAR and said that he was just looking to put one foot in front of the other and not trying to go for wins. The 34-year-old will now head to Martinsville, where he has not had a finish better than 21st at the 0.526-mile oval in the past two years, with the same package this weekend.
