Paige booked to face 2 former World Champions simply days after her WWE return on SmackDown

Paige is officially back in WWE, and she made her first free TV appearance in nearly a decade this week on SmackDown on April 24th. She was booked to face two former World Champions right off the bat.

Paige declared that SmackDown was her house as she made her triumphant return at WrestleMania 42 – becoming one-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions along with Brie Bella. As you might know, she was a direct replacement for Nikki Bella, who suffered an unfortunate injury where her ankle was sprained and fractured at the same time. The former Divas Champion revealed that it was a crazy and hectic sequence of events that unfolded between last Monday and Saturday prior to WrestleMania 42, as she went from clearing her medical and drug tests to then moving on to negotiations. All of that happened with days remaining, but here we are now.

As Paige declared that she was back and that SmackDown was her house, she and Brie Bella were interrupted by the former Women’s Champions, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. Both women, who have close to 20 World Titles to their names, challenged the new Tag Team Champions in a non-title match, and it was quickly made official.

However, the match itself was cut severely short and ended abruptly due to the arrival of Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid. The trio are known as “Fatal Influence” and they had a stronghold over NXT for a very long time. In fact, it was Jacy Jayne who dethroned Stephanie Vaquer to become the NXT Women’s Champion and her two reigns with the title were propped up by Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid.

Now that Fatal Influence is on SmackDown, it appears as though the entire landscape of the women’s division has changed.
