Path of Exile 2’s Last of the Druid update is just a few hours away, and Grinding Gear Games has revealed a new Ascendancy. The Sorceress is finally getting her third Ascendancy, and it’s closely related to her Maraketh heritage. Disciple of Varashta will allow her to command three different Djinns using Baryas, granting minion players something new to try.
Each Djinn has multiple command attacks, which grant you a lot of build flexibility. I guess that’s another Unique build tech to try in PoE 2 patch 0.4.
All we know about Disciple of Varashta Ascendancy in Path of Exile 2

For the longest time, a minion build in Path of Exile 2 was something you’d start with the Witch class. However, as a Disciple of Varashta, you’ll have control over up to three powerful Djinns, and after the fight with Balbala, the Traitor, we all remember how powerful one can be.
Here’s an overview of all the Djinns:
- Ruzhan, The Blazing Sword: For everyone waiting to use Greatsword in Path of Exile 2, they can now do so, albeit through a proxy. Ruzhan weilds this weapon to perform fire attacks that can inflict Exposure. Additionally, he deals more damage for each ‘Damaging Skill’ you used recently.
- Navira, The Last Mirage: One of the popular defenses for the Sorceress in PoE 2 is the Energy Shield, and with Navira, you can further reduce the recharge delay. Additionally, she also provides Mana Regeneration, which may make her a popular pick among the three Djinns.
- Kelari, The Tainted Sands: If you’re looking to build around Critical Hits, then Kelari is the best option among the three. It’s an assassin-themed Djinn that uses blades to inflict Critical Weakness on enemies and uses the debuff window to deal a massive amount of damage.

The Djinns aren’t like the regular minions in Path of Exile 2. They’ll mostly remain dormant inside the Baryas until you command one. The attack transition on using a command feels smooth, but that’s not all. Keeping them off-screen also reduces the visual clutter, possibly resulting in better performance.
Another thing to note is that all Djinns are invulnerable and will disappear after performing the attack. Meaning you’ll be the main target of enemies at all times. We recommend investing in some defense, or better yet, using Navira to keep your energy shields up at all times.
If one of the new Ascendancies coming in Last of the Druids update catches your eye, you can try them out during the PoE 2 free weekend.
