Paul Heyman has scouted and built several wrestlers for WWE. Interestingly, however, The Wiseman recently denied discovering Austin Theory for the company. Instead, he gave credit to the real person behind introducing A-Town while addressing the absence of Seth Rollins.
A fan tweet on X tried to inform the WWE Universe that Paul Heyman was the man who found Austin Theory. Correcting him in his response, The Oracle tweeted that it was actually Gabe Sapolsky who had scouted the former United States Champion.
Thanks for the submission!
Heyman noted that his contribution was in bringing Theory to the main roster. Adding a humorous layer, he highlighted that he drafted Theory to RAW for Seth Rollins’ Monday Night Messiah group.
“@itsjoeykarni For the record, @BookItGabe deserves all the credit for the discovery of @_Theory1. As Executive Director of @WWE #RAW in 2019/2020, I drafted Theory from @WWENXT for (ironically enough) @WWERollins’ group. Now, he’s a seasoned veteran with a chip on his shoulder ready to step into the spotlight. But the credit for discovering Theory goes to Gabe!”
Austin Theory returned to WWE after a long hiatus at the 2025 Survivor Series as a hooded figure. The former Tag Team Champion was using the move Curb Stomp on the opponents of The Vision, which made everyone feel that Seth Rollins is the man under the hood.
Paul Heyman could face some problems with Austin Theory
This week’s episode of RAW saw Austin Theory explaining why he returned as a mystery man. He noted that he wanted people to see and feel what he could do before revealing who was under the mask. He highlighted that he liked the way The Vision operated and just took what it wanted, and wanted to join them.
Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed were dubious of A-Town, but The Oracle said that he has a vision for Theory just like them. Heyman also said that if the former US Champion failed them in the main event, Theory and Reed versus CM Punk and Rey Mysterio, then they would get rid of him.
The Auszilla had some visible problems with A-Town, who wanted to be the one to start the match. Later, however, things worked out for the heel faction as Theory pinned Rey Mysterio after landing a Curb Stomp.
While Theory has proven his in-ring worthiness, Paul Heyman could face challenges maintaining the group’s cohesiveness with him in the equation. It would be interesting to see what lies ahead for the group.
