Continuing today’s theme, the Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards’ new City Edition shorts were leaked on social media on Friday morning

The Suns’ shorts pay homage to the 1995 NBA All-Star Game, specifically the purple uniforms worn by the Eastern Conference, as evidenced by the green cactus and orange star from the game’s logo on the waistband.

The shorts also feature the same green, orange and black stripes around the waistband and leg holes, as well as the same Aztec pattern down the sides as the 1995 All-Star Game uniforms.

The only difference is the Suns’ sunburst logo on the left leg and the orange star behind the green cactus on the waistband, as the stars only appeared on the jerseys at the All-Star Game.

Sources have indicated Phoenix’s new City Edition jerseys, meanwhile, will feature “The Valley” across the chest in white while carrying over the side panels and trim along the shorts to the collar and armholes.

The Wizards’ new City Edition uniform, on the other hand, is effectively the home version of their 2023-24 set, which was inspired by the stones that mark the original boundary to the District of Columbia, as shown in the logo on the shorts.

They no longer feature a black, red, copper and teal color palette, though, which symbolized the oxidized metal fencing and natural flora around the stones, and now appear in Washington’s familiar blue and red colorway.

The texture of the stones remains in the piping along the shorts, which have the same “DMV” wordmark that appeared on last year’s shorts on the waistband, representing the D.C., Maryland and Virginia metro area.

Sources have indicated the matching white jersey will also carry over the Old English “District of Columbia” wordmark across the chest, but no longer include the diamond shape that represented D.C.’s original 10 by 10-mile boundary.
