Pinterest Adds New Gift Discovery Elements for the Holidays

Pinterest has added some new features to assist in your holiday shopping search, including custom product wishlists, expanded Gift Guides from famous users, and a new way to save items from Gift Guide displays.

First off, Pintrerest has added an easy way to save items to your own holiday shopping wishlist, where you can gather together items that you like, for yourself or somebody else.

As you can see in these example screens, now, you’ll be able to quickly and easily save items to your holiday wishlist for easy reference within your shopping process.

Pinterest has also added a quick save feature to its celebrity-curated Gift Guides which will also share your saved Pins into your own shoppable wishlist.

I’m not sure how Paris Hilton keeps getting herself highlighted in social platform activations, but there you go, if you’re into pink and quasi-celebrity DJs, you can check out what Paris thinks is cool this year, among many others.

As per Pinterest:

“With more than 1,000 unique gift guides worldwide curated by creators and celebrities like Paris Hilton, RuPaul, Emma Chamberlain and K-Pop girl group TWICE, Pinterest is the go-to platform to find a gift.” 

So now, you’ll more easily be able to save items from these celebrity-recommended collections, which will then be added to your own in-app wishlist.

Finally, Pinterest is also adding a new, machine-learning powered display of personalized Pin selections to its “Holiday Finds” tab, highlighting items that its system thinks that you’ll like.

“The feature is experimental, and is rolling out over the next few weeks. This special shopping experience uses your unique searches and saves to recommend relevant styles and ideas that are must-haves for the holidays.”

So a custom listing of Pin products, based on your past activity and interests. That could be an easy way to find relevant gift ideas that you can then hint for family and/or friends to get you for Christmas.

Pinterest is steadily expanding its product listings, and is always evolving its product discovery and recommendation algorithms. As such, it could be a good source of gift ideas this holiday period, while celebrity-curated product listings will also be a strong lure for many fans.
