Pinterest Launches New Initiative to Encourage Educational Use

Pinterest has launched a new “Educators’ Fund” initiative, part of its broader “Pinterest for Teachers” element, which aims to help support creators who share educational content, in order to assist in the usage of Pinterest for learning-based activities.

The program, which is currently only available to U.S.-based Pinners, aims to help maximize the use of Pinterest for learning, and drive more adoption of the platform for classroom-based initiatives.

As explained by Pinterest:

Pinterest for Teachers is a place for educators to find tools and resources to support them in the classroom and on platform – including our first-ever Pinterest Educator’s Fund, a program focused on uplifting creators who inspire teachers and students through educational content.

Pinterest for Teachers, which you can access here, includes a range of classroom materials to help educators understand how they can use Pins within their process.

The new Educators’ Fund, meanwhile, is an expansion of this for creators, which will provide access to a range of additional training and support programs, including virtual workshops, access to internal experts, and opportunities to secure cash grants.

Though the actual cash grants will be limited. Only 20 creators will be selected for this element, with applications open from now until October 26th.

But if you’re creating content for students, which is focused on learning, it could be a good opportunity to expand your Pin focus, and get support to help you build your platform presence.

It’s an interesting consideration, in using Pins for educational purpose. The platform is mostly focused on shopping, but there are a wide range of Pins, on a wide range of topics, which could serve a role in certain classrooms and subjects.

And even if you’re not a teacher, it could be worth a look, in order to better understand the ins and outs of the app, and how it can be used for different purpose.

As noted, Pinterest is taking applications for its Educators’ Fund till the end of this month.
