Ricochet became the inaugural AEW National Champion at Full Gear 2025 when he won the Casino Gauntlet match. Since then, he has defended the title a few times against Ace Austin, Dalton Castle, and Nino Bryant. However, his title could be in some serious jeopardy.
Jack Perry has been getting the better of Ricochet in recent weeks. At Worlds End 2025, Jurassic Express and JetSpeed faced off against The Demand and Josh Alexander. Jack Perry secured the win for his team by pinning Ricochet. This earned him a shot at the AEW National Championship the following week. However, the One and Only star managed to retain his title. This week on Dynamite, Jack teamed with the Young Bucks against The Demand. This time again, Perry was able to pin Ricochet. This puts him back in contention for another title. This time, the former Jungle Boy should have no problem defeating the former WWE star. Given that Jack has gotten the better of Ricochet twice, it will be a huge mistake if Tony Khan doesn’t book him to win the title the next time they compete.

Jack Perry opened up about his fight with CM Punk at AEW All In 2023
At All In 2023, Jack Perry and CM Punk got into a backstage altercation. As a result, Punk was fired from the company while Perry was suspended indefinitely. Since then, Punk has publicly opened up about what happened.
During an appearance on Close Up with Renee Paquette, Jack Perry said that he never expected to find himself in that situation, but he wouldn’t change a thing about it.
“It’s funny because if you had gone back 10 years ago and someone showed me ‘this is gonna happen’ I’d have been like ‘to me? Are you serious?’ But now also, it kinda is what it is, and I think as much as some people would probably want me to, I wouldn’t change anything. In the time when it was happening, it all felt terrible, but I think it forced me to realise things that are bigger life things.” [H/T WrestleTalk]
It will be interesting to see if Jack Perry will become the next AEW National Champion.
