Even amid the federal government shutdown, President Trump is determined to make sure that the men and women of the United States military get their paychecks.
President Trump took to Truth Social and said that he was using his authority as commander-in-chief to ensure that military personnel were paid.
Trump ripped Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for the ongoing government shutdown.
On October 1 at 12:01 am, the government partially shut down because two measures failed in the Senate.
Dueling proposals to fund the government have failed in the Senate seven times.
Today is day 11 of the Schumer Shutdown.
Instead of working with Republicans to responsibly extend funding until November, Schumer chose a shutdown because he wants to give illegal aliens healthcare.
“Chuck Schumer recently said, “Every day gets better” during their Radical Left Shutdown. I DISAGREE! If nothing is done, because of “Leader” Chuck Schumer and the Democrats, our Brave Troops will miss the paychecks they are rightfully due on October 15th. That is why I am using my authority, as Commander in Chief, to direct our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to use all available funds to get our Troops PAID on October 15th. We have identified funds to do this, and Secretary Hegseth will use them to PAY OUR TROOPS,” Trump said.
“I will not allow the Democrats to hold our Military, and the entire Security of our Nation, HOSTAGE, with their dangerous Government Shutdown. The Radical Left Democrats should OPEN THE GOVERNMENT, and then we can work together to address Healthcare, and many other things that they want to destroy. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump said on Saturday.
The government shutdown has affected thousands of federal jobs involving agencies like the CDC and the IRS.
The shutdown would also potentially affect farm programs and even the Smithsonian Museum.
Last Sunday, President Trump addressed the men and women of the US Navy in celebration of their 250th year as a military institution. He promised them that they will get paid even with the government shutdown.
