Preston North End will host Portsmouth at Deepdale on Saturday in another round of the 2025-26 EFL Championship campaign. The hosts head into the weekend desperate to return to winning ways and rediscover their solid form after what has been a disappointing few weeks.
Preston North End were only a couple of minutes away from their first win in five games but ultimately had to settle for a 1-1 draw after Ipswich Town’s Jack Clarke converted his penalty in the 92nd minute when the sides met last Saturday. The Lilywhites lost only two of 15 league games between October and January but have lost four of their last five games to see them drop to ninth place in the league table, although they remain only three points behind the promotion playoff spots.
Thanks for the submission!
Portsmouth, on the other hand, seem to have finally found their rhythm this season, having only lost one of their last nine league games after winning only one of their previous 10 and will be keen to continue their recent form this weekend.
Pompey made it four games unbeaten with a comfortable 3-0 win over relegation threatened West Bromwich Albion last time out but remain at risk of slipping back into the drop zone should they fail to get a result this weekend.

Preston North End vs Portsmouth Prediction
The sides are closely matched going into the weekend clash, although the Lilywhites will gain a slight boost from their much better offensive record and home advantage.
Pompey will rely on their dominant record in recent editions of this fixture to get a result but will need to be at their best to get anything more than a point here.
Prediction: Preston North End 1-1 Portsmouth
