The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League are marking 30 years in their home city with a new anniversary logo.
The Huskies unveiled the logo on their social media channels last week. It’s not clear yet how the Huskies will use the logo, but it could appear on their jerseys or possibly on the ice surface at the Aréna Glencore.
The logo features a red outline of the Huskies’ current logo, with the eyes and an ear from their original husky logo inside. Beside that is the number 30, split between red and black. Inside the 3 are silhouettes of the trophies the team has won in their time in Rouyn-Noranda: two Gilles-Courteau trophies as QMJHL champions (2016, 2019) and one Memorial Cup as Canadian Hockey League champions (2019). Over the zero is a red banner with the years 1996 and 2026.

In 1996, after seven years as the Saint-Hyancithe Laser, owners Sylvain Danis and Dave Morin transferred their franchise to Rouyn-Noranda, a city in western Quebec, near the Ontario border, with a long history of copper mining and smelting. They used their original Huskies logo from 1996 to 2006, then introduced their new logo with a howling husky in front of a red roundel.
Prior to 1989, the team had been based in Montreal and operated under several different names, including the Montreal Junior Canadiens, the Montreal Blue Blanc Rouge, and the Verdun Juniors.
The Huskies kick off their 30th anniversary season on Friday, September 19, when they host the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
