QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs Won’t Have New Under Armour Jerseys In Time for Home Opener – SportsLogos.Net News

The Saint John Sea Dogs might be embarking on the “next wave” of their franchise history this weekend, but they’ll be wearing a familiar look for a little while longer.

The Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League team based in New Brunswick posted a statement to their Facebook page on Thursday, September 18, saying that they won’t be wearing their new uniforms made by Under Armour when they play their home opener against the Cape Breton Eagles on Friday, September 19, at TD Station.

Instead, the Sea Dogs will be wearing their previous logo on last season’s white jerseys.

The wait is almost over: tomorrow night marks the start of the next wave of Sea Dogs hockey at TD Station. Fans will see plenty of talented returning players and exciting new faces, along with our updated logo showcased proudly at center ice.

You may notice one small twist when the team hits the ice.

Our players will be wearing our classic logo on our familiar white jerseys. Our brand-new uniforms are not quite ready because Under Armour, the CHL’s new supplier, has not yet delivered the correct jerseys.

We expect the new look to arrive later in the season, and we will share updates as soon as we have them. In the meantime, the Sea Dogs Store is fully stocked with new merchandise, including shirts, hats, hoodies, and more, so fans can still gear up with the latest Sea Dogs apparel sporting the updated logo.

This delay is affecting several CHL teams, and the supplier is working quickly to resolve the issue.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to enjoying a fun new season with you, as we enjoy our classic jerseys a little longer before unveiling the new look later this year.

The Sea Dogs unveiled a new logo in July that was designed by Brian Gundell, who has also worked on projects for the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks, the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds, the ECHL’s Iowa Heartlanders, the NHL’s Seattle Kraken and MLB’s San Diego Padres. At that time, the team also released graphics of what their new uniforms would look like.

The Canadian Hockey League announced in May that it had signed a five-year contract with Under Armour to become the official jersey supplier for all 61 teams in the QMJHL, the Ontario Hockey League and the Western Hockey League.

Saint John isn’t the only team experiencing delays in receiving their UA jerseys. It was reported that the OHL’s Kingston Frontenacs — who wore black CCM practice jerseys throughout the preseason — were one of several teams who might not get their jerseys in time for the start of the regular season due to “an issue found during quality control with the unique, metallic fabric that has impacted the uniform production schedule,” according to a CHL statement.
