A former WWE and AEW champion recently announced that he and his partner will be stepping away from the Tony Khan-led promotion indefinitely. Now, a number of their All Elite colleagues, including Wardlow, Renee Paquette, Dustin Rhodes and more, are reacting to the news of FTR taking time off from wrestling.
Last month at Double or Nothing 2026, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler defended their AEW World Tag Team Championships against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in an “I Quit” Street Fight. Despite their best efforts, The Top Guys were unable to force the WWE legends to surrender and thus end their tag team. The violent and chaotic bout ultimately ended with Cage and Cope trapping Dax the Axe in a painful dual submission, compelling the latter to quit.
FTR have been missing from AEW programming since losing their tag team titles to the erstwhile Edge and Christian at Double or Nothing. In the midst of their absence, Harwood took to Instagram to share a lengthy post discussing how he and Wheeler have been wrestling consistently and prolifically for the past few years. The post announced that The Living Legends were physically and mentally burnt out, and were thus going to take time off from wrestling for themselves and for their families.
Dax’s post has elicited reactions from many of his peers from the All Elite Wrestling locker-room. It has received likes from stars such as Chris Jericho, Bobby Lashley, Jack Perry and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks. Moreover, Renee Paquette, Wardlow, Dustin Rhodes, Cassie Lee, Carlie Bravo and Karen Jarrett left some touching messages under it.

Former AEW champs FTR have two upcoming matches scheduled
Despite making it clear that they will be stepping away from wrestling for an indefinite duration of time, Dax Harwood revealed in his Instagram post that FTR will be in action at two upcoming events. The former AEW tag team champions will be facing off against The Good Brothers at an Appalachian Mountain Wrestling show on August 22. One week after that, they will battle The Young Guns at RevPro UK’s 14th Anniversary Show for the Undisputed British Tag Team Titles.

It remains to be seen when FTR might return to All Elite Wrestling TV.
