MSNBC has descended into a state of “civil war” over the decision by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski to meet with Donald Trump.
According to a report from The Sun newspaper, network anchors such as Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes are furious with the television couple for “bending the knee” to Donald Trump after his stunning election victory.
The report notes:
A journalist at MSNBC who has worked there for 15 years says the fallout has created a “very tense situation,” with some feeling they have been “stabbed in the back.”
“It was such a stupid thing to do,” the insider told The U.S. Sun. “They have bent the knee to ensure not being targeted by Trump and the whole MAGA world.”
Another source at the network told the paper that people are “shitting their pants” about the prospect of having to show Donald Trump some deference.
The journalist was quoted as saying:
Most of us don’t want to be part of that. Some are thinking about trying to join other media organizations where we can do our job with respect and values to bring truth to the table without being pressured by the people in power.
The meeting at Mar-a-Lago created a lot of tension in the teams, and many other stars host of the channel see both Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski as opportunistic and with very low self respect and forgetting their values of being journalists with independence and integrity.
They have lost a lot of credibility. Rachel Maddow is pissed at them as are other presenters like Chris Hayes and Eri Melber. They are so frustrated.
The left-wing propaganda network has seen its ratings nosedive in the wake of Trump’s victory as furious viewers lash out in anger or simply check out of politics altogether.
There is also growing speculation that MSNBC’s parent company, Comcast, may be preparing to sell the network amid fears that it holding on may not be in their financial interest.
The prospect of a potential sale has led to calls from conservatives for Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and a loyal Trump supporter, may put in a bid.
While Musk has not confirmed that he will do so, he has entertained the idea and suggested that it “may just work.”
Crazy idea, but it just might work! https://t.co/t5fMwhs0jj
