The fact that Kansas is in play for Democrats, not just in the Senate election but also in House races and state races, is due to the level of economic damage, hardship, and pain that Donald Trump and his policies have brought down upon the Midwest.
In a normal midterm election where the out of power party is expected to do well, the Kansas US Senate race would not be expected to be closely contested.
Republicans are so worried about Kansas that they sent Vice President JD Vance to the state to campaign. When Vance was in Kansas, he drew a small crowd and got heckled, which revealed a lot about the mood toward Trump and Republicans in the state.
ABC This Week’s Jon Karl said to Hamilton, “The vice president came to campaign against you.”
Hamilton responded, “ I consider that a great compliment, that the second most powerful man in America came here to try to save Roger Marshall.”
It was when Hamilton was asked about Vance’s attacks on his religion that the Kansas Democrat destroyed the VP.
