Welcome to a brand-new edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s WWE News and Rumor Roundup. Today, we’ll cover John Cena’s return to the company, a former world champion’s new role in the promotion, and whether a top star got injured on Monday Night RAW.
Let’s get started:
Thanks for the submission!
#5. Major injury scare on WWE RAW
A few months ago, Chad Gable returned to the Stamford-based promotion following his stellar run in AAA as The Original El Grande Americano. Gable turned face and slowly climbed the mid-card ranks. At SummerSlam in Minnesota, the 40-year-old star defeated Penta to win the Intercontinental Championship.
The reign has gone well so far, but an incident occurred on the most recent edition of Monday Night RAW. On the show, Chad Gable teamed up with Dragon Lee to take on Ethan Page and Big Cass in a tag team match. In the end, Page hit a suplex on Gable on the outside.
After the spot, doctors rushed in, and Gable didn’t compete. Unfortunately, Dragon Lee had to finish the match on his own, and he lost. As of this writing, it’s unclear whether the spot was in kayfabe or real. Earlier this year, Chad Gable returned from injury, and it’ll be interesting to see what’s next for the Intercontinental Champion.
#4. WWE adds another match to Crown Jewel 2026
Crown Jewel is two weeks away, and regardless of the real-life issues, the company is headed to Saudi Arabia for the premium live event. However, it seems like the company is one match away from completing the card for the event on 7th November 2026.
On the red brand, Penta has been feuding with The Vision‘s Bron Breakker following his win at Money in the Bank. On the recent edition, Breakker cost Penta the chance to cash in his contract on Sami Zayn when Zayn defended the title against Je’Von Evans.
The Vision has created roadblocks for The Young OG on Monday Night RAW, and Breakker pushed Evans off the ladder and onto an ambulance at the premium live event. Later, Adam Pearce confirmed that Penta and Je’Von Evans will face The Vision for the World Tag Team Championship at Crown Jewel.
#3. Triple H reportedly brought back former world champion in a new role
In 2016, Eric Young signed with WWE and primarily worked under Triple H‘s creative leadership on NXT, where he was the leader of Sanity. In 2018, the faction moved to WWE’s main roster, but the company released them in 2020. Young signed with the company for a second time in 2022, but never made an on-screen appearance.
According to PWInsider, the two-time former TNA World Heavyweight Champion signed with the company for a third time and has been working on the developmental brand as a producer since July. Triple H has a good working relationship with Young, and The Game was the reason the 46-year-old veteran signed with the promotion.
Last year, Eric Young appeared on NXT when the company did a cross-brand storyline with TNA Wrestling. It’ll be interesting to see whether Young makes another appearance on television in the coming months.
#2. Updated card for WWE Crown Jewel 2026
WWE hosts the Crown Jewel event every year and even changed the venue when the company hosted it in Perth last year. However, times are tough, as Saudi Arabia is on high alert, but the promotion has no intention of canceling, postponing, or shifting the event to a different location.
Regardless of the uncertainty, the card for Crown Jewel 2026 is almost complete two weeks before the event. As of this writing, three title matches and one grudge match are confirmed.
Updated card for WWE Crown Jewel 2026:
- Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn in a singles match for the Crown Jewel Championship
- Chelsea Green vs. Liv Morgan in a singles match for the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship
- The Vision vs. Penta and Je’Von Evans in a tag team match for the World Tag Team Championship
- Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes in a Last Man Standing match
There is a chance another match could be added to the card.
#1. John Cena set to return on WWE RAW
Last year, John Cena officially retired from in-ring competition at Saturday Night’s Main Event when he lost to Gunther. Earlier this year, The Franchise Player was the host for WrestleMania 42 and appeared on both nights. Later, the 17-time WWE World Champion was on Backlash.
At the premium live event, John Cena announced the John Cena Classic, but there’s no date or venue for it yet. It was recently confirmed that Mr. Hustle Loyalty and Respect will appear on Monday Night RAW next week before the company heads to Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.
While it’s unconfirmed, there’s a possibility that more about the upcoming John Cena Classic will be revealed next week in Brooklyn when The Franchise Players appear in front of the crowd.
