Streamer Sakura Shymko recently touched on her experience of moving out, dealing with family pressure, and getting support to stream. As of this writing, Shymko is 21 years old and has been streaming since early 2021. Currently, she has about 420,000 followers on Twitch and is averaging just under 1,500 viewers per stream.
At 17, Sakura was presented with an ultimatum: move out, or pay $1,500 a month for rent. She considered this and thought that moving out would be the best option:
“I was basically told, ‘You either need to move out, or you need to pay $1,500 a month in rent to stay at home.’ And I was like… well, what the fuck? At that point, I might as well just move out. So obviously I’m thinking, okay, I’m moving out.”
She added, explaining how the incident made her feel like she was being “forced out”:
“And I remember feeling like, damn, y’all are being kind of petty, because it felt like I was being forced out. I was 17 at the time. Yeah, I was 17.”
Former Valorant pro Tyson “TenZ,” who was dating Sakura’s sister, Kyedae, at the time, offered to help the then-17-year-old Shymko by offering her a place to stay in Nanaimo or Vancouver:
“And Tyson was like, ‘Pick where you want to live. Pick Nanaimo or pick Vancouver.’ Me and Kyedae will pay your rent—just pick wherever makes you happy.’”
“Kyedae and Tyson have always supported me”: Sakura speaks on how TenZ and Kyedae helped her stream
Sakura went on to speak about how important Kyedae and TenZ have been in her career, and how TenZ purchased ‘every PC she’s ever had’ and helped her with her living situations:
“Because Kyedae and Tyson have always supported me. Like every single PC I’ve ever had – Tyson paid for all of them. It was honestly really nice of them. And Tyson just kept saying, ‘Just pick where you want to live.'”
In other news, TenZ and Kyedae had a public breakup in February 2026, sparking controversy and backlash online.
