Senator Rick Scott Guarantees to Push Laws to Make Positive the ‘Cowards” behind Swatting Calls Face Real Consequences | The Gateway Pundit

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) joined the ranks of elected officials who have been swatted over the Christmas-New 12 months’s vacation together with his Naples, Florida dwelling being swatted Wednesday night time. Most of these swatted over the previous week have been Republican officers or conservative activists.

As Kristinn Taylor reported earlier, Scott posted an announcement on Thursday on Twitter-X concerning the incident:

“Last night, while at dinner with my wife, cowards “swatted” my dwelling in Naples. These criminals wasted the time & sources of our legislation enforcement in a sick try to terrorize my household. Ann & I need to thank @NaplesPolice & @CollierSheriff for all they do to maintain us protected.”

Lawyer Jonathan Turley, who was also “swatted” this week, defines “swatting” as against the law. In line with FOX News, the crime targets a person by calling in a false police report for a violent crime — resembling a homicide, a hostage scenario or different crimes that might require a better legislation enforcement response — to the house of the goal. The aim of the false police report is to elicit a SWAT staff response by the police to the goal’s dwelling.

After all, this places the goal in peril of being shot or killed by police over a false accusation by the unhinged caller.

On Friday afternoon Senator Scott promised to push laws to verify there are actual penalties for the criminals behind the harmful swatting calls.
