Smriti Mandhana pulls off a stunner to dismiss Tahlia McGrath in IND-W vs AUS-W 2026 Test [Watch]

Star opener Smriti Mandhana pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss all-rounder Tahlia McGrath in the one-off Test between India Women and Australia Women. The game is being played at the W.A.C.A, Perth.

During Australia Women’s first innings, a moment of brilliance occurred on the field when Smriti Mandhana held on to a difficult chance to get the better of McGrath. On the second ball of the 76th over, being bowled by Shafali Verma, McGrath got an inside edge trying to push the ball, as it turned on the middle with some bounce as well.

The inside edge went straight to Smriti Mandhana, who was stationed at short leg. Smriti was quick to react and grabbed the ball in a fraction of a second. The Indian players erupted in joy and surrounded Smriti to congratulate her for the marvellous effort.

Tahlia McGrath was sent back for 13 runs off 32 balls. In the first innings, India Women were bowled out for 198. In reply, the hosts eventually finished with 323 runs. Sayali Satghare was the pick of the bowlers for India, returning figures of 4/50.

Smriti Mandhana disappointed with the bat

While Smriti Mandhana put up a stunning effort in the field to grab a difficult catch, her batting in this one-off Test has been far from impressive. The star batter struggled to get going in both innings for India. Her returns were disappointing, being a senior player on the side.

In the first innings, she was dismissed by Lucy Hamilton for four runs off 13 balls. The ball nipped back in and disturbed her woodwork as he looked to play a big drive, only to find a huge gap between bat and pad.

With India trailing by 125 runs at the start of their second innings, they needed Mandhana to step up this time around. However, Darcie Brown got the better of her in the very first over. She was bowled once again, falling for a nothing shot, caught in two minds. The left-hander was sent back for a run-a-ball two, ending the Test on a disappointing note as far as her batting was concerned.
