Some Things Never Change… X Uses Leftist ‘Fact-Checkers’ Funded by Far Left Groups to Censor and Silence Conservative Voices Like Gateway Pundit on the Platform | The Gateway Pundit

If you are a Trump supporter or right-leaning American conservative and noticed that you are being censored and silence on the X platform you are not alone.

For years, several top conservative outlets have been censored and smeared on Twitter and X.

It is clear that X is using algorithms and outside leftist groups to smear and censor conservative websites on X.

The Gateway Pundit may be one of the top censored publications on X today. Before The Gateway Pundit X account was banned in 2021 after the 2020 election, we were one of the most popular conservative accounts on the platform. Then, during COVID and following the 2020 election, we were censored, banned, and silenced.

We asked @Grok, the Twitter X AI program, why we were censored on X back in 2023.  Grok responded that it was because The Gateway Pundit is labeled a far-right website known for publishing “controversial” content and “conspiracy theories.” Grok also told us their information came from Media Matters for America – the far-left website whose mission is to eliminate conservative voices on TV, in print media, and on social media. Grok was using a 2017 Media Matters opinion piece that reported on 20 TGP articles to smear us as “controversial” and pushing “conspiracy theory.”

The fact that Twitter-X was using Media Matters to censor conservative websites was surprising to us since Elon Musk and Twitter are suing Media Matters for lying to advertisers about the social media giant.

Recently, Grok and X have apparently turned to a new source to determine which media outlets are blocked and censored and which outlets get the green light.

What we found was very disturbing.

Grok and X are now working with the far-left “fact check” website Media Bias-Fact Check website to determine what outlets are trustworthy versus those that have “low credibility.”

This is just astonishing!

Grok and X are using a far-left site to determine which media accounts are censored and smeared and will get no traffic.

Media Bias/Fact Check outlet lists conservative outlets as “low credibility” and lists far left or leftist mainstream outlets as “high credibility.”

The Gateway Pundit contributor Alicia Powe wrote about Media Bias/Fact Check website years ago and nothing has changed since then.

In an effort to bolster the iron curtain and reinforce misinformation, an explosion of “fake-news” fact-checker sites devoted to delegitimizing The Gateway Pundit to continue to emerge.

The self-appointed gatekeepers of facts operate under the guise that they have no bias whatsoever and are typically cloaked behind a veil of anonymity.

Exhibit A: MediaBIasFactCheck.com, a fact-checking that prides itself as “the most comprehensive media bias resource in the Internet,” despite being run by an owner who was previously exposed for misleadingly claiming to be a journalist.

According to this fact-checking site, The Gateway Pundit is not “right-center” or “right,” but “extreme” and ranks “very low” in factual reporting for premising its reports on “failed facts on a near-daily basis.”

MediaBiasFactCheck.com also claims The Gateway Pundit reports “propaganda,” “conspiracy,” “Nationalism” and “Some Fake News” and shares its “low credibility” rating with every prominent centrist or right of center media organizations.  These “fake-news”-selling media organizations include the Daily Caller, Breitbart, The Blaze, The Daily Wire, The Daily Mail, Epoch Times, The Federalist, Louder With Crowder, Project Veritas and Washington Free Beacon.

Note: These rankings were taken in 2021. Since then not much has changed AT ALL with their ranking system!

Notoriously left-leaning publications including Huffington Post, NPR, Daily Beast, The New York Times, The Young Turks, Southern Poverty Law Center and LA Times were all deemed “Left-Biased” or “Left-Center” and ranked favorably with “high credibility” by the formidable “experts” of fake news.

Dave Van Zandt, owner of MediaBiasFactCheck.com, touts his site as frequently being referenced by reputable center-left sources including “USA TodayReuters Fact CheckScience FeedbackWashington Post, and NPR, among dozens of others.”

Like MediaBiasFactCheck.com, its competitors, which are deemed by big tech as the nation’s most prominent fact-checking organizations, tilt to the political left.

PolitiFact, which has previously the assertion “people can change their sex just because they feel that they are not their biological sex” is a “fact,” is heavily funded by leftist institutions including the Ford Foundation, the Tides Foundation, the Omidyar Network Fund.

The Washington Post’s Fact Checker, which uses Pinocchio ratings to rank the truthfulness of statements, is owned by Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos. In 2016, Bezos, a Democratic Party donor, deployed an army of 20 newspaper staffers to scour Donald Trump’s life for any dirt they could find on the presumptive GOP nominee.

Snopes’ “principal fact-checker” Kim LaCapria is a former sex-and-fetish blogger who described her routine as smoking pot.

The fact-checkers are giving their funders a bang for their buck. After all, low-information voters believe their fact-checking is legitimate.

So why is X and Grok using Media Bias/Fact Check website to smear and censor conservative outlets on the platform?

We were told X was going to be a free exchange of ideas.

But it is not just Media Bias/Fact Check site that is allowed to label conservatives as biased or untrustworthy.

The Gateway Pundit asked Grok AI – associated with X – if there are ANY neutral fact-checkers that are labeling and censoring conservative content.

X told us this.

Q: Grok who do you use for factchecking organizations on X?

Grok: I don’t rely on specific fact-checking organizations for information on X. My approach involves cross-referencing multiple sources, including posts on X, web content, and other available data, to verify information. I aim to critically analyze and provide answers based on the most consistent and credible evidence I can access, without depending on any single entity. If you’re curious about a specific claim or organization, I can dig into it for you!

Q: Who are the independent evaluators you talk about?

Grok:

The independent evaluators I referenced are organizations or initiatives that assess the credibility, bias, and accuracy of news sources, typically aiming to provide non-partisan or transparent analyses. In the context of evaluating The Gateway Pundit, I mentioned MediaBiasFactCheck.com as an example. Below are some details about such evaluators and others commonly recognized:

  1. Media Bias/Fact Check (MBFC):

    • An independent website that rates news outlets based on factual accuracy and political bias.

    • Uses a methodology involving criteria like sourcing, fairness, and transparency, assigning ratings such as “Low Credibility” or “High Factual Reporting.”

    • Criticized by some for perceived subjectivity but widely used for its detailed reports.

  2. AllSides:

    • Evaluates media bias by analyzing content and providing a “Left,” “Center,” or “Right” rating.

    • Employs a mix of editorial reviews, crowd-sourced input, and blind surveys to minimize bias.

    • Focuses more on ideological leanings than factual accuracy but useful for context.

  3. NewsGuard:

    • A service that rates news websites based on nine journalistic criteria, such as transparency, accountability, and handling of corrections.

    • Provides a “Nutrition Label” with scores out of 100 and detailed explanations.

    • Used by institutions like libraries and schools, though some critique its funding ties.

  4. Ad Fontes Media:

    • Creates the “Media Bias Chart,” plotting news sources on axes of bias (left to right) and reliability (high to low).

    • Analyzes content through a team of reviewers with diverse political backgrounds.

    • Aims for transparency but faces criticism for simplifying complex biases.

These evaluators are independent in the sense that they are not directly affiliated with major political parties or news outlets, and they publish their methodologies publicly. However, none are immune to criticism—some X posts and web sources argue they can reflect subtle biases, especially when funded by grants or tied to certain ideological ecosystems. For instance, The Gateway Pundit and its supporters have claimed that fact-checkers like Media Matters (which leans left) unfairly target conservative outlets, though Media Matters is more of a watchdog than a neutral evaluator.

When I assess a source like The Gateway Pundit, I consider these evaluators’ ratings but also cross-reference primary data, X posts, and other web content to form a balanced view. If you want me to dive deeper into any specific evaluator or their assessment of The Gateway Pundit, let me know!

      General Notes:
Transparency and Criticism: All four organizations publish some level of funding information, but the depth varies. NewsGuard and AllSides are more detailed, while MBFC is less specific. Critics, especially on X, often speculate about hidden influences (e.g., corporate or ideological agendas), but conclusive evidence is scarce.

Context: These evaluators operate in a polarized media landscape, and their funding models—relying on donations, grants, or corporate licenses—can invite skepticism. For instance, grants from foundations like Knight or Newmark, which support journalism initiatives, are sometimes viewed by conservative critics as left-leaning, though these foundations fund a broad range of projects.

Cross-Referencing: To assess their credibility, I recommend checking their methodologies (available on their websites) and cross-referencing their ratings with primary sources or raw data, such as the original articles they evaluate.

So X went from using Media Matters to fact-check conservative accounts to using leftist “fact-checking” sites to smear and censor conservative users on the platform.

And, here we thought we were safe from the radical left smears!

In 2020 and 2021 The Gateway Pundit was reporting completely factual reports on COVID, Vaccines, the VAERS system, as well as numerous incredible fraudulent acts during the 2020 election.

The Gateway Pundit had a better record than ANY fake news media outlet. It is not even close!

And yet today our reports are still censored and blacklisted on the X platform along with many, many others.

Despite the fact that our website continues to grow in leaps and bounds in daily traffic, X will kill off our reporting the moment it is published.

Hopefully, Elon Musk and his team will see this and made a course correction.
