On Saturday, during College Game Day coverage, sportscaster Pat McAfee shared his awe after a flyover featuring Mississippi Army National Guard helicopters over the set before LSU–Ole Miss.

Rece Davis, “It’s only for pageantry. They’re just sending in the Mississippi Army National Guard for the pageantry of it. The 185th Aviation Brigade based in Tupelo flying those Apache attack helicopters.”

In the background, others on the set could be heard in awe, uttering, “Look at that. Look at that. Wow. Woo-hoo!”

McAfree added, “Man, incredible. That’s 3 for 3. We certainly appreciate the hell out of the American military.”

“And if you’re not in the United States of America and you hear that sound, your ass better run.”

Davis continued, “That’s the one thing the 2 sides here can agree on for sure.”

The crowd at The Grove, the main tailgating lawn at Ole Miss where the show was being broadcast, responded with enthusiastic chants of “USA.”

A few disgruntled people complained that praising the flyover was “jingoistic,” but most people reacted with the same pride and awe.
