The Stampeders are making noise at home this season. Unfortunately for coach Dave Dickenson’s team, it has been quiet away from Calgary.

The Stampeders will look to change their winless road record and deal the Ottawa Redblacks their first home loss when the teams meet on Friday.

Calgary (3-3) has lost all three of its road games this season, while Ottawa (4-2) has won all three of its home contests.

Jake Maier completed 25 of 32 passes for 307 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday as the Stampeders snapped a two-game skid with a 25-24 victory over the visiting BC Lions.

Maier threw scoring strikes to Reggie Begelton and Jalen Philpot before finding Clark Barnes in the end zone for a go-ahead score in the fourth quarter.

“You can’t sugarcoat it, it’s an amazing feeling,” Maier said. “We work hard every day and guys care the world for what we do. To be on the other end, it’s an amazing feeling.

“I told them at halftime, I felt like we were battle-tested. I think we’d been on the wrong side of it a few too many times, and when you go through hard times like that, you can come out the other side eventually, and eventually, we got to that side.”

Philpot recorded six catches and a game-high 79 receiving yards. He has 17 catches for 240 yards and a score in six games this season after missing the 2023 campaign due to a torn hamstring.

The Redblacks remained unbeaten at TD Place after completing a home-and-home sweep of the Edmonton Elks with a 20-14 victory last Friday. The win hardly was a work of art, as Dru Brown tossed two interceptions and no touchdown passes while Ottawa was penalized seven times for 74 yards.

“I’m not going to turn my nose up at any win,” Redblacks coach Bob Dyce said. “When you look at the CFL standings, it says four wins, two losses, and I’m extremely proud of those guys.”

Ryquell Armstead rushed for a touchdown for the second time in three games for the Redblacks.
