The Texas Tech football program this week unveiled new alternate uniforms that feature former quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ “Gladiator” logo and will be worn against Colorado on Nov. 9.

The dark gray uniforms follow the same overall design as the black home, white road and red alternate uniforms the Red Raiders revealed in July, with two thick stripes on the sleeves and pants.

But while the black home and white road jerseys have a “Texas Tech” wordmark across the chest and the red alternate jersey displays “Red Raiders,” the gray uniforms include an oversized “Tech.”

The wordmark, numbers and stripes are all metallic gray with a red stroke, while the striping pattern and Double “T” logos on the gray helmets featuring a galvanized finish as a nod to the beveling in the logo.

As mentioned, the uniforms are complete with Mahomes’ personal logo on the left shoulder and left hip, spots that were reserved for the adidas logo on Texas Tech’s other uniforms.

“Seeing my own logo on the Texas Tech uniform I put so much blood, sweat and tears in is one of the most meaningful off-field accomplishments of my career,” Mahomes said in a press release.

The three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL MVP played for the Red Raiders from 2014-16 before being selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Mahomes joins the likes of Michael Jordan and LeBron James in having their personal brands included on game-worn collegiate uniforms, and becomes the first adidas athlete to accomplish that feat.

“There is no more powerful brand in sports than Patrick Mahomes,” athletic director Kirby Hocutt said. “We look forward to debuting this uniform in front of a sold-out Jones AT&T Stadium on Nov. 9 against Colorado.”
