The Division 2 Corrosive Shell global event went live on September 15, 2026. This event rerun brings purple fire as a defensive mechanic applied to hostiles. It must be extinguished to deal damage. In Y8S3, Strategic Homeland Division (SHD) Agents can complete overworld activities while fighting Corrosion enemies to earn stars, which can be exchanged for reward caches at the event vendor in the Base of Operations.

How to play The Division 2 Corrosive Shell global event
During the Corrosive Shell global event in The Division 2, all enemies are equipped with a Corrosive Shell substance that deflects regular bullet damage. To remove this shell, apply status effects to targets. This destroys the Corrosive Shell and causes an explosion of purple flame.
If you get caught in the blast radius of the destroyed Corrosive Shell, you will also take damage. Upon defeating such enemies, you gain the Corrosive Momentum buff, which applies the following effects:
- Weapon Damage
- Rate of Fire
- Status Effects
- Reload Speed
If a hostile survives the purple flame explosion, they will regain their Corrosive Shell after 15 seconds.
During this event, applying Status Effects must remain your primary goal. You may choose to run a DPS set with a Banshee Pulse; however, this event is the best time to dust off your Eclipse Protocol build from the stash and equip it.
Do note that the Corrosive Shell global event modifier cannot be active while the seasonal global modifier (Under Pressure in Y8S3) is running. Therefore, be aware that any loadouts reliant on the Global Modifier for stat thresholds will become less effective.

- Eliminate 20 hostiles while you are affected by the Corrosion debuff – 4 stars
- Complete any Main Mission on Hard Difficulty or above – 2 stars

- Eliminate 10 Veteran hostiles while you are affected by the Corrosion debuff – 4 stars
- Complete any Invaded Mission on Hard Difficulty or above – 2 stars

Best build for the Corrosive Shell global event
In this global event, you can speedrun certain missions like the Lincoln Memorial or Bank Headquarters to farm event stars. The loadout mentioned below will take care of all four specific status effects that the daily challenges require you to inflict:
- Primary – Scorpion exotic Shotgun
- Secondary – Everlasting Gaze named AR with Perfect Perpetuation talent
- Pistol – Quick Step named pistol with Sport Mode talent
- Specialization – Firewall
- Skill slot 1 – Blinder Firefly / Explosive Seeker Mine
- Skill slot 2 – Firestarter / Foam Chem Launcher
With this build, you can simply shoot your Chem Launcher and relax in cover while the Vile mask talent slowly deteriorates the health of all nearby enemies. The Foam Launcher version of this build, along with the Cluster Seeker mine, is a great support loadout for Tier 6 Escalation missions where you can CC hostiles endlessly.
