“The guy needs to be locked up”

WWE Backlash 2026 is in the history books now. The five-match event ended with Jacob Fatu standing tall over Roman Reigns even after losing the World Heavyweight Title match.

Corey Graves has a critical say on it, as he feels Jacob should be locked up again.

On the Backlash Post-Show, Corey Graves was on the panel with Big E, Peter Rosenberg, and Jackie Redmond. Graves there lashed out about Jacob’s unhinged attack and an off-air promo. The RAW commentator said the Samoan Werewolf doesn’t belong in a WWE ring.

Graves said Jacob should either be locked up or return to the independent circuit, but shouldn’t be in a WWE ring anyway. He feels Fatu might be posing a serious threat to everyone’s paycheck if he gets any brutal with Roman, who is steering the WWE’s ship.

“He is not fit for human consumption. He doesn’t belong in society. The guy needs to be locked up, straitjacket. He does not belong in a WWE ring. Let him go back to the independents. Let him do what he is gotta do. He’s messing with my paycheck, your paycheck, your paycheck. Roman Reigns is steering this ship. If Jacob Fatu is going to take out, he is going to screw over a lot of people,” said Corey Graves (6:49 onwards)

After multiple long Tongan Death Grips on Reigns, the OTC was able to walk out on his own. However, this hints at a rematch heading into Clash in Italy, as Fatu doesn’t seem to be done with his cousin yet.

What else happened on Backlash 2026?

To open Backlash, Bron Breakker defeated Seth Rollins in a barn-burner long match. Then, Trick Williams successfully defended his United States Championship against Sami Zayn.

Elsewhere on the show, Danhausen joined forces with Minihausen to beat The Miz and Kit Wilson in a tag team match.

On the women’s side, Iyo Sky then defeated Asuka in what is seen as the latter’s last match in WWE. The Empress of Tomorrow seemingly bid farewell after the match.

John Cena returned in Tampa tonight to announce a new event called “The John Cena Classic,” where stars from NXT and the main roster will compete for the championship.

Fans will get to vote to crown the John Cena Classic Champion, regardless of the result.
