There is a prospect that new Canadian Prime Minister Carney to name an election very quickly

Mark Carney has been elected the new leader of Canada’s Liberal Party and therefore the new Prime Minister:

There is a strong possibility that he will call an election, perhaps as soon as Monday. Canada’s next federal election is scheduled for October 20, 2025. It can be called on an earlier date by the Prime Minister. Carney has indicated that he may call an early federal election, potentially by the end of April or early May 2025. The word out of Canada is that Carnbey may make that call on Monday.

Carney’s party has bounced back in the polls in response to Trump’s belligerence towards Canada – tariffs, 51st state and what have you.

Other dates mentioned for Carney to announce a snap election include the days leading up to parliament’s resumption on March 24.

Stay tuned!

Will Carney skate to where the puck is going?
