Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown was officially introduced on Thursday as a member of the team. During Brown’s introductory presser, the star player was asked about the trade and his time with the Boston Celtics. The five-time All-Star was also asked about his former co-star, Jayson Tatum.
Brown and Tatum were teammates for nine straight seasons in Boston. It was a special partnership, especially after they won the championship in 2024. The media was curious to know how their relationship is doing since the trade.

“We won a championship together,” Brown said. “Anybody that you won a championship with, you think that’s what a brotherhood or a lifelong legacy would entail. Honestly, there’s ups and downs in any type of relationship. On my end, there’s nothing but respect. … I hope he does well.

A reporter also asked Brown if they had been able to talk to each other since the trade. However, the one-time Finals MVP had a cold two-word response.

Jaylen Brown Shares His Initial Reaction to the Trade
Jaylen Brown did not take the news of his trade well. After spending 10 years playing for one franchise, Brown did not expect the Celtics to trade him to a conference rival.
During his presser, Brown told the media the first thing he did when he found out about the news.
“I’m not even sure when I found out when I first got traded. I just threw my phone across the room,” Brown said.
Brown probably reacted out of frustration, especially after spending a decade with one franchise. Additionally, he had just finished the best season of his career, averaging 28.7 points per game.
Jaylen Brown also told the media that Tyrese Maxey was the first player to reach out to him after the trade. Maxey welcomed him to the organization and expressed his excitement about being teammates.
