CM Punk has been a babyface ever since he returned to WWE back in 2023 at Survivor Series: WarGames. He recently launched a vicious assault on Sami Zayn on this week’s pre-taped episode of SmackDown which was caught on camera. Zayn interfered during the Best in the World’s Undisputed WWE Championship defense last week.
Kevin Owens became the #1 Contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship by winning the Fatal 4-Way match at SummerSlam. Over the last few weeks, he and CM Punk had been going at it with each other on the microphone. Punk even brought up the infamous “t-shirt incident” from their ROH days which is a major part of why Owens despises the Second City Saint in real life.

Both men finally faced each other on last week’s SmackDown in Toronto for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The match was going well before Sami Zayn interfered and hit both Owens and Punk. The Second City Saint took advantage of the interference and retained his Championship, but he wasn’t happy with how the match ended. He took revenge on Sami for last week’s interference on this week’s tapings of SmackDown.
In a video posted by the Haroon Twins from the tapings, Punk can be seen assaulting Zayn near the barricades. CM Punk can be seen mocking Zayn’s t-shirt and referring to the beatdown as justice.
“This is justice, Sami. This is justice,” says Punk in the video.
It seems like Sami Zayn is also going to get involved in the Undisputed WWE Championship feud moving forward.
Will Ospreay recently shared his perspective of the CM Punk and Jack Perry brawl at All In 2023
AEW All In 2023 is remembered for many reasons with a major one being CM Punk’s abrupt departure from the company. The Best in the World had a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at the event which led to him being fired from the company. While speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Ospreay shared his perspective on what happened at All In.
“I was going over the match in my head. I was sat there thinking to myself that I needed to get this right and this right, and I was making sure that everything was going on in my head. And I heard a commotion, and I thought they were cutting a promo. So, I got out of dodge, and I saw Punk walk past me, and it was like, ‘Oh no, I know exactly what is happening,'” he said.
